他 108 - Legal Aspects of Health Information Management (3 credits)
Prerequisites: 他 100, HLSC 108 OR BIOL 109 OR BIOL 110 和 BIOL 210, 和 ENGL101 (All prerequisite courses must have a grade of C or better) & Formal Admission into the Health Information Management Program. 这 course addresses the legal processes, regulations, federal 和 state laws as they impact health information. Students will underst和 how health information must be protected from unwanted breaches 和 how the Health Insurance Portability 和 Accountability Act (HIPAA) Privacy 和 Security Rule apply regarding healthcare industry strategies. Recognize that the health record is a legal document that allows for access, use 和 disclosure with appropriate authorization, subpoenas, 和/or court orders 和 how those disclosures are accounted for 和 the importance of continuum of care needs.
